Uche Ignites Dominant Crystal Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though entering their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Missing star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal direct passage to the knockout stages, especially after a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Moment

This match provided a platform for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne team that had concluded their league season were no match even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Control Established from the Start

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A slick move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close soon after, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the referee dismissed the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to get his goal, tapping home from close range after Uche's effort had struck the post.

Shelbourne were clinging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Pino Wraps Up the Contest

The match was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

A solitary worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
