Ten individuals sentenced of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for carrying out the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced charges of circulating untruths regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the couple's age disparity of 24 years.
The court delivered conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A circulating unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons initiating a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their legal filing states that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions in favour of platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she taught at his secondary school.
The pair married in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
